Wheels Day

We had fun today with the Travel Wise Team who ran our Wheels Day.

First they checked out helmets.

We were lucky that Jade's Mum also came to help. Thanks Mum!
After we had had a talk about being safe on our bikes we divided into two groups.
One group had to get into teams and do an orienteering course. They had to bike around the school to find some letters. They couldn't get the next clue until they had found the first one. They had to collaborate as a team to find it..

While that was happening the others learned how to use their bikes properly. Braking so they can stop at exactly the right place. Also learning to swerve around cones. Then going around people and stopping to walk across the crossing to cross the road. We swapped over so we all had a turn at each activity.

After lunch we made a shield to put on the front of our bikes or scooter. This shield showed the things each person valued. We then went out to parade with all the other people who had brought their bikes and scooters.

Unfortunately our photographers, Jodie, Zac, Nikita didn't take many photos of our class but they did get one of the special guest. MAXX the Pukeko who sometimes comes to school to help us be safe on the road.
